7 Tips to Cleanse and Detox Your Mind

7 Tips to Cleanse and Detox Your Mind

Your mind is constantly processing thoughts and emotions. The fast paced world we live in can cause you to feel overwhelmed. For this reason self-care is essential to your wellbeing. Self-care allows you to take a moment away from the chaos of daily life. Read the tips below on ways you can regularly make time to benefit mental wellbeing.

Take a Break from Screen Time

Try taking a detox from social media and digital screen time. Doing so will become refreshing and a time you look forward to each day. Detaching yourself from notifications and messages will give you more control over your schedule. Some things you can do to get away from your screen is go for a walk without your phone or simply schedule a time to put your phone into a drawer. You could also minimize your screen time by silencing your notifications when you are not working or busy. Another way you can accomplish this is by dedicating an area or room in your home where electronics are not allowed.

Focus on Tasks

Often when we think of the chores or other tasks we feel little desire to complete them. However, when you are engaged in housework your mind is occupied with activity. You can think of everyday tasks as a way to detox your mind from worries. Chores allow you to stay focused on the present rather than concerning your mind with the uncertain future.

Express Gratitude

The ability to give thanks for what you receive is a strong mental health tool. Take a moment to appreciate the simple things that surround you and make your life more enjoyable. Some things to be grateful for could be people, pets or perhaps your vehicle. Being thankful goes a long way in moving past difficult mental challenges.

Volunteer and Serve

Being charitable with your time and skills allows you to feel empowered. Serving and volunteering allows you to see the value you can give to others and the impact your life has. Helping out those in need is a great way to change your current perspective.

Go Outside

Spending time outdoors is a time to become inspired and energized. Being outdoors shows improvements in physical and mental health. Specifically it can benefit your ability to focus and lower your levels of stress. Get outside to quiet your mind and cleanse your mental state.

Ask Yourself Important Questions

Another step to detoxing and cleansing your mind is by completing a self interview. You can reflect on your life by asking yourself some of these questions:

  • What is working well in my life? What is not?
  • Where can I improve?
  • Are there any relationships in my life that are bringing me down?
  • What bad habits can I give up today?
  • Am I spending too much time on something that is not valuable?
  • What lesson can be learned from my last mistake?
  • What do I want to accomplish in life?
  • Is there anything impeding me from this goal?

Say No

With your mind cleansed of clutter, learn to keep it that way by not adding things that can harm your mental health. This can be a problem for those who tend to be a people pleaser. Remember that your personal health and wellbeing is of greater importance. Learn to prioritize your time with what is truly important and productive.
